Hannah Blakely Barton Obituary

Carrollton, Texas - Hannah Blakely Barton passed away Saturday, August 23, surrounded by her closest friend, family, and beloved dog Rudy. She had been in home hospice care for lung cancer since April 2024.

Hannah will be remembered by everyone for her keen intelligence, quick wit, myriad artistic talents, gourmet cooking, and of course, her generous nature. Born with a tenacious can-do attitude, Hannah never did anything halfway. When she became interested in gardening, she set about earning her Master Gardner certification. Her hobbies included sewing—beautiful quilts and hand-beaded velvet stockings for loved ones, watercolor painting, reading, and making amazing homemade pasta and bread.

Hannah graduated from Commerce High School in 1974, and Texas A&M Commerce in 1979. She worked for many years in retail print advertising production for Ross stores in San Francisco, CA, and Platt Music in New York City. She even headed her own ad agency for five years before switching to freelance graphic design. Hannah taught as an Adjunct Instructor in print media communications for Texas A&M Commerce from 2002-2014.

Hannah was preceded in death by her husband Larry Barton, and is survived by sisters Jan Uhler Truby of Kansas City, MO, and Melanie Blakely Johnson (Randy) of Carrollton, TX.

No funeral services will be held per her request. Instead, a celebration of life party is in the works.
