Dr Glenn Paul Fournet,86, of Tyler Texas passed away Thursday September 16,2021 at his residence. He was born on November 19,1934 to Hobson and Leone Fournet in New Iberia Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Ellen Cooper Fournet, a daughter Monique Leone Fournet Dorsey, two grandchildren Candice Follis Stamps and Rickey James Benson. He is also survived by three great grandsons Elijah Phillips, Isaiah Phillips and Bryson Benson. Three step great grandsons Ronin Stamps, Levi Stamps and Trace Jackson. He is survived by two great granddaughters Raven Stamps and Alli Benson as well as two great great grandchildren McKenna and Mason Phillips. He is also survived by two brothers Seymore Fournet of Seabrook Texas and Byron Fournet of St. Martinville Louisiana as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and two brothers: Phillip Fournet and Kenneth Fournet.
A graduate of New Iberia high school in Louisiana he then completed New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored a church in Cameron Louisiana for many years while attending Louisiana State University where he graduated with a PHD in Psychology. In 1968 he and his family moved to Commerce Texas where he was on faculty at East Texas State University and taught for 40 years. He was the Director of Secondary and Higher Education , Director of Student Foreign Affairs Department, Head of the Department of Psychology and earned the position of Professor Emeritus at A&M University in Commerce,Texas. Dr. Fournet also served on the board of the Andrews Center and worked with Habitat For Humanity building wheelchair ramps.
A memorial service is planned for October 11th at 11am at the Westwood Baptist Church at 820 NNW loop 323 in Tyler.
