William Sloan Drake, 77, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at Settler's Ridge Care Center in Celina, Texas.
William was born Aug. 3, 1939, to Harold and Louise Drake in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1957, received his bachelor of arts from East Texas State College in 1961, and his doctrine of dental surgery at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston. He also served in the United States Army from July 1965 to July 1970.
William met his beautiful bride, Sarah Kay Wright, in high school; they married on June 8, 1963, in Greenville, Texas. William began his practice in Sherman, Texas, and had a long career in the dental industry, more than 40 years until his retirement in 2012. William loved being outdoors — whether it was hunting and fishing, mowing the yard or working the land and cattle at his ranch in Wolfe City, Texas. He also loved being in the mountains of Colorado, spending time hunting and skiing with friends and family, but most of all he loved being a dentist.
William is survived by his three sons, Chris Drake of Little Elm, Cliff Drake and wife Linda of Round Rock, and Steve Drake and wife Stacy of Prosper, and five grandchildren, Lauren, Hannah, Alexis, Dylan, and Evan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sarah.
