Mrs. Ruth Pope, precious faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Commerce, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 22, 2015.
She was known for her great love for her family and members of her church. She showed her love to others by crocheting beautiful items such as caps, hats, jackets, baby blankets and even full bedspreads for them. Through many illnesses, she was faithful to her family and to her church.
Mrs. Pope leaves behind five children, Bobby James Pope, Kevin Wayne Pope, Ollie May Pope Teel, Billy Ray Pope, and Christopher Glen Pope; 20-plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helping care for her at the time of her death was her beloved great-grandson, Dakota Morales.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Ridgecrest, with burial in Shiloh Cemetery next to her husband, Hairl Pope. Afterward, a meal for family and friends will be provided at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ridgecrest, 918 Bishop Street. Commerce Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Washington Street is in charge of arrangements.
