Ralph S. Heyer, 52, passed away Feb. 10, 2011, at his residence in Campbell.
Ralph was born Oct. 27, 1958, in Karlsruhe, Germany, to Gudrun and Fredy Heyer. Ralph was a nuclear physicist. He married Norma J. Valentine on May 27, 1985, in Arlington.
Ralph was a Wright State Alumni member. He held bachelor’s degrees in science and physics, received numerous federal and state awards for radiation safety and published two books on radiation control. He had written numerous publications and training manuals for radiation safety. Ralph was an active member of the Texas Department of Health and Radiation Safety Committee. He was a long-standing member of the Health Physics Society and an affiliate member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. There is a wing of a Texas college that will be built in the near future in honor of Ralph S. Heyer.
A one-word description of Ralph is “unselfish.”
Surviving are his wife; his father; a son, Richard W. Valentine of Lake Dallas; a grandson, R.J. Valentine; and a granddaughter, Toria Alexis Valentine.
His mother preceded him in death.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m., Feb. 16, in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell under the direction of Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce.
