Lucille Weatherbee passed away in Commerce on March 12, 2011, at the age of 89.
She was born May 3, 1921, to John and Lona Follis Weatherbee. Lucille was a homemaker and was a lifetime lover of sports. She supported the Commerce Little League baseball program for many years and knew all the players and their families. She was a true fan of the East Texas State University Lion athletic teams and rarely missed a game. She enjoyed taking photos and making scrapbooks of her favorite players and teams. She also collected baseball cards and memorabilia for fun. She loved Barbie dolls and as a hobby made clothes for the dolls. Once she completed the outfit, she would find a worthy owner for each special doll.
She graduated from Commerce High School and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Commerce and enjoyed attending and participating in church functions.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Alemedia Weatherbee, Charles Clifton (Buddy) Weatherbee, Viola (Billie) Hamilton, Willie (Dimple) Mitchell, Johnny B. Weatherbee and Hazel Schwartz.
Survivors include nieces and nephews Tony Schwartz, Donna Spinato, Brenda Weatherbee and Douglas Hamilton, all of Commerce, and Doris Hamilton, Melvin Hamilton, Mary Price, Clifton Hamilton, James Hamilton and Joe Hamilton of the Metroplex, and a host of grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service and burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce with Rev. Roy Lee Dittmar officiating.
