Judith's Story

Text size

Judith Anne Breitlow Vanderpool, 63, passed away Dec. 10, 2017, in Athens, Ga. Judy had been battling an aggressive cancer since early 2017 and was surrounded by her loved ones on the days leading up to her death.
Judy was born Jan. 17, 1954, in Jonesboro, Ga.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Worlds and Robert Herman Breitlow; a brother who died at birth; two of her four sisters, Joan Kirkpatrick and Janet Brown; one brother-in-law, Jim Kirkpatrick; and a nephew, Stephen Kirkpatrick.
Judy spent most of her career as a talented artist at Prairie Rose Studio in Commerce, Texas. She created both residential and corporate artwork with her then husband, Rick Vanderpool. As a skilled painter, Judy would add color by hand tinting black and white photographs. Judy also enjoyed singing in the choir at First United Methodist Church in Commerce.
Judy is survived by her loving daughter, Jessic Vanderpool Wilkerson and son-in-law Windsor Wilkerson; two sisters and two sons-in-law, Jeanne Flyth and George Flyth and Joyce Gibson and Jim Gibson; and numerous nieces, nephews and their beautiful children.
Judy left us too soon; all her family and friends will miss her vibrant personality, huge heart and contagious smile. She left a great footprint on this world with both the beautiful artwork she created and the daughter she leaves behind.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. EST followed by a 3 p.m. EST memorial service at the Batts & Bridges Funeral Home in Athens, Ga., with Rev. Martha Aenchbacher.
