April 12, 1927 - February 18, 1957

Jeanette Sibley Welch Norris was born at home in the Scatterbranch Community, between Commerce and Greenville, on April 12, 1927, to Aruna Lee Fielding Sibley and Claude Woodson Sibley.
Her parents farmed in Scatterbranch, then Cumby and finally Commerce. They had seven children, Lee Claudis Sibley, Lloyd Henry Sibley, Prentis Ardie Sibley, Dorothy Wynell Sibley Mccurley, Sarah Junelene Sibley Redden, Aruna Mozelle Sibley Potter and Joyce Jeanette Sibley Welch Norris.
Jeanette graduated from Commerce High School in 1943 and attended two years of college at ETSU (now Texas A&M University-Commerce). She left college to go to work. She met Lester Lee Welch and married him on Nov. 9, 1951. They had three sons, Mark Lee Welch, born and died on Feb. 18, 1957; David Lee Welch on Dec. 2, 1958; and Paul Robert Welch on Dec. 14, 1967. Jeanette and Lester owned the bus station and taxi service in Commerce and they even owned their own bus line, Welch Motor Coach. She loved her husband and sons fiercely and was full of energy and laughter. Lester passed away after a long illness on Nov. 25, 1988.
David married Loretta Fowler Welch on Feb. 2, 1989, and Jeanette was the most wonderful mother-in-law in the world. Jeanette was over the moon happy when she found out she was having a granddaughter, Shanna Lee Welch, who was born March 8, 1994. She had many, many happy times and memories with Shanna and they adored each other.
Jeanette loved to cook and loved to make big meals for all the holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorites. She loved to read books and garden. She had such a green thumb that she was often teased that she could stick a twig in the ground and make it grow.
She met Horace Brockton (HB) Norris at the senior citizens dance in Caddo Mills, and after a wonderful courtship, they married on June 10, 2004, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Loretta and Shanna in attendance. Jeanette always said she was the luckiest woman in the world to be able to find love twice in a lifetime.
Jeanette passed away April 6, 2014, at 5:02 p.m. following a long illness. She had been cared for at Oak Manor Nursing Home for the last two years. All the nurses said she was a sweet lady who always told them thank you for everything they did for her.
Jeanette will be greatly missed by her sons and daughter-in-law and her sister, Jackie (Aruna) Mozelle Potter, and brother PA Sibley and all her nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.
