Funeral services for Gena McFadden, 56, of Sulphur Springs were conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 19, with Butch Burns and Brad Flues officiating. Interment followed at Gafford Chapel Cemetery.
Gena McFadden passed away Jan. 16, 2011, at her mother’s home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Sulphur Springs on Oct. 23, 1954, the daughter of Nelson H. and Jean Burns Ross. She worked jobs in both Hunt and Hopkins counties, including many years in her family dairy business, most recently at the Van Zandt County Livestock Auction, as a caregiver and delivering meals on wheels. She was a lifelong resident of Hopkins County, a 1973 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and a member of League Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her mother; a son, Michael McFadden of Sulphur Springs; daughter Marisa Phillips and husband Alan of Rockwall; grandchildren Blake Nelson and Reagan Jeanne Phillips; two sisters, Jana Hankins of Sulphur Springs and Janina Ross of Austin; a niece, Hannah Tatum and husband Riley of Yantis; and nephews Patrick Matthews of Sulphur Springs and Billy Hankins of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her father.
