Dr. Robert Templeton Sr., 78, of Cooper passed away Feb. 4, 2012, at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Cooper. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday at Delta Funeral Home in Cooper.
Dr. Templeton was born July 2, 1933, in Paris, Texas, son of Gobel and Kathleen Crawford Templeton. He graduated from Cooper High School, East Texas State University and Texas A&M in 1958 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He was a veterinarian and rancher. Dr. Templeton lived in Commerce until 1986 when he moved to Cooper. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cooper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a first lieutenant in San Francisco and Japan.
His parents and a sister, Litrelle Templeton Levy, preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Robert Templeton Jr. of Cumby; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Templeton and Carol Ann Templeton, both of Smyrna, Tenn., and June Templeton of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Laura Kathryn Templeton of Houston and Betty Carolyn Colley of Plano; and three grandchildren, Erin, Lane and Hayden Templeton.
