COOPER — Charles Thomas (C.T.) Smith went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015. His funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11:30 a.m. in the Delta Funeral Home chapel. Dean Eudy and Pam Zolezer will officiate. Interment followed at Shiloh Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites and military honors.
Family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1947, in Commerce to A.M. “Bud” Smith and Faye Shook Smith. He attended West Delta and Commerce schools where he graduated in 1966. In 1967 he enlisted in the Navy and received a federal A&P license in aircraft maintenance. After getting out of the service he worked at Rockwell and successor companies, L-3, and was a commercial long-haul truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; beloved dog Dina; son Charles Michael and wife Ashley; granddaughters Akayshia and Summer Smith; a sister, Marjorie Kuhn; stepdaughter Angela Schulze and husband Jimmy; stepgranddaughters Allie and Karlie Shulze; a stepgrandson, Jared Bolton; stepson John Kay and wife Cheryl; Virginia’s sister and husband Brenda and Melvin Sanders; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a Master Mason and Past Master of Hopkins Lodge 180, a member of New Hope Church in Cooper and a member of American Legion Red Henderson Post 483. He retired in 1997 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
