'Cooter' James's Story
James T. "Cooter" Moody, 88, of Commerce, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Greenville Regional Medical Center. His memorial service was Wednesday, April 13, at 2 p.m. in the Delta Funeral Home chapel. Visitation with the family followed the service.
Cooter was born in Ben Franklin, Texas, April 7, 1928. He was the son of Augustus F. Moody and Ora Earl Pitts Moody. He married Wyvonne Baker, Nov. 3, 1950. She preceded him in death April 9, 2015.
Also preceding him in death were brothers A.F. Moody Jr., Boyd Earl Moody, and Bob Allen Moody, and sisters Mozell Larkin, Remell Bush, and Eddie France.
Cooter was a retired plant manager. He worked for Voluntary Purchasing Group/Hi-Yield, both in Commerce and Bonham for more than 40 years. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Commerce and was a founding member of the Delta Roping Club.
Survivors include children Laura Lynne and Donnie Scott of Lindsay, Calif., David Max and Deborah Moody of Klondike, Jeff Baker Moody of Cumby, and Karen Kaye Tomlinson and Billy Hudspeth of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
